What is "Rough Cup"?
The name “Rough Cup” is — among other things — derived from an old Chinese phrase: 粗茶淡饭 (cu cha dan fan), which directly translated means, “rough tea; bland rice.” This phrase represents a simple meal that some might find boring or worthy of scorn.
Peasant food, in other words.
In our experience, the best and most memorable meals we’ve had were meals such as these. Humble ingredients, prepared simply with love and care, and eaten among friends or family in unassuming surroundings.
This is the kind of food we try to recreate at home, with our own twists and techniques, and that we’ll try to share here with you.
